Recent government legislation means there have been changes to the way we handle medicines in school.
Prescribed medicines that need to be brought into school for use by students during the day must be brought in by their parents/carers and handed to our trained staff in Reception where paperwork will need to be completed. The medicines need to be in the original packaging with the dispensing label on it including dosage and the student’s name.
We are no longer able to give painkillers to students (eg, ibruprofen or aspirin for period pains/headaches) without them being prescribed by a doctor. Paracetamol medication may be issued if the appropriate paperwork is completed by Parents/Carers.
Rest assured we will continue to care for our students if they become unwell and stay in close contact with parents/carers. Please feel free to contact staff in Reception if you have any queries.
